Cross pockets with angled flaps
Pockets at an angle with a flap over the pockets.

Detachable linings
A lining with sleeves which zips into the garment for warmth.

Double breasted
A coat which has two very wide sections at the front which fit over one another, when you button them up.

Double texture
Two layers of cotton with rubber sandwiched in-between the two cotton layers.

Epaulet
An ornamental shoulder piece on a coat.

Fleece
100% polyester, used in some detachable linings with high warmth to weight ratio.

Fly front
Coat fastening by concealed buttons to aid weather and water proofing qualities.

Inset Sleeves
Used on most garments, this sleeve most closely matches the bodies lines. The sleeve is joined to the body of the coat with a circular interface.

Mackintosh material
Scotsman Charles Macintosh developed the process to bond natural rubber on to 100% cotton to create the world’s first waterproof fabric in 1823.

Microfibre fabric
Breathable fabric made of tightly woven fibres that offers good resistance to wind and rain. Microfibre is soft to the touch and comfortable to wear.

‘Peach Bloom’ feel
Material which feels as soft as a peach's skin.

Polyurethane coated nylon fabric
Nylon cloth coated with a waterproof polyurethane, as used in the light weight coats and capes. It is characterised by its high strength, elasticity, low water absorption and quick drying properties.

Prussian collar
High standing turn down collar.

PVC
Poly vinyl chloride coated nylon knitted fabric - supple and waterproof with a high gloss finish.

Raglan sleeve
A sleeve in one piece from collar to cuff for ease of movement at the shoulder.

Storm tab
A shaped fastening applied to the underside of the collar to create a snug waterproof fastening to the neck.

Storm cuffs
A sleeve inlay which forms a waterproof enclosure around the wrist and prevents moisture and wind from penetrating from outside.

Single breasted
A coat that fastens in the centre with only one row of buttons.

Single texture
Cotton on the outside and rubber on the inside.

Tab cuff
Adjustable sleeve which shortens the coat sleeve by half an inch.

Taffeta linings
Made from 100% polyester, a high quality lining designed to give ease of movement.

Taped seams
A seam that is internally taped with a fabric strip which is applied with a waterproof compound to make a garment totally waterproof.

Teflon fabric coating
A DuPont Trade mark fabric protector, outsmarts stains, repels water and oil based spills. It increases the lifespan of the fabrics and makes cleaning easier.

Ventilated back hem
A split in back central hem of the coat to aid walking.

Ventilated back
Is ventilation at the shoulder blades to further enhance ventilation.

Waterproof
A fabric which keeps you dry in the rain because it does not allow water in.

Welt
An easy diagonal pocket with no flap.

Whole back
Back without ventilation across the shoulders.
